Meet The Team - Heather Hargreaves

Over the next few months, we are going to be introducing you all to our fantastic team here at Urquhart Opticians. Personal service is our mantra and all of our team take great pride in delivering the highest standards. But here is a bit more about one of them....

Name –  Heather Hargreaves

Why did you get in to Optics?

When my youngest daughter started Primary School, I wanted a change in career and the opportunity to learn new things and to develop professionally.

Where did you study? / What qualifications do you have?

I have completed my Level 5 Diploma in Optical Care at the University of Stirling. I am currently completing Level 7 and the exam is in January – wish me luck!

How long have you been with Urquhart Opticians and what do you enjoy most about your job?

I have been in this role for two years. I love meeting new people and helping them to choose new and fabulous eyewear. Every day is different and it means I am always learning.

What is your favourite brand of eyewear and why?

Ray Ban – It is a classic and it will never go out of fashion.

What is your most memorable patient experience?

One experience always sticks in my mind. As an Independent Optician, our key focus is always a personal service but I took this to another level a few years ago when I drove a patient to the hospital. The patient had no transport and they had been diagnosed with a detached retina which is very serious. The patient was extremely grateful.

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

I love spending time with my family. They are the most important thing to me. I also have a passion for horses and for hill walking. And after a busy week at work, it is always great to relax with a nice meal and a glass of wine.

Where is your favourite holiday destination?

Mexico

What is your favourite movie?

Twilight

One interesting fact about yourself?

A few months ago I climbed Ben Nevis for Charity. Oh and I have also seen Michael Jackson at Glasgow Green – that was really cool!
