Why did you get in to Optics?
I was in the hospitality trade for a number of years and decided I wanted a change. My friend told me about a job at Urquhart’s so I applied got the job.
Where did you study? / What qualifications do you have?
I have school results and from there I went straight into hospitality. I graduated from the Manager Acceleration Programme - an experience which I really enjoyed.
How long have you been with Urquhart Opticians and what do you enjoy most about your job?
I have been at Urquhart’s for about 4 months now. I really enjoy meeting new people and learning new skills. I’ve nearly mastered holding the tiny screws to put into people’s glasses.
What is your favourite brand of eyewear and why?
My favourite brand has got to be Michael Kors. They are modern, stylish and there are lots to choose from.
What is your most memorable patient experience?
I was working in the Kilmarnock practice and a lady came in with her mum’s broken glasses. They were chipped at the bottom and were an older pair of glasses. I managed to find a similar pair and get the lenses put in to them. She was very grateful and told me her mum would be too.
What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
I love socialising with friends and family, especially going out for dinner and drinks.
Where is your favourite holiday destination?
Tenerife - my boyfriend and I went twice this year and I could have stayed it was so warm!
What is your favourite movie?
It has got to be Harry Potter. I love every single one of them.
What is your favourite book?
My favourite book is The Great Gatsby by F Scott Fitzgerald.
One interesting fact about yourself?
I am obsessed with watching murder documentaries and TV programmes about serial killers.
