Urquhart Opticians was established in 1916 by Robert Urquhart. The first premises were in Dreghorn and the decision was then taken to move the Opticians to Kilmarnock where tests were undertaken in an upstairs practice on Portland Street. In the late 40's, Urquhart Opticians moved premises again to 5 St Marnock Street, where they remained until 1978 when our existing practice, 14 Portland Road was purchased.
It was in 1984 that Urquhart Opticians expanded with the purchase of our practice in Prestwick and this was followed by Troon in 1989. In 2000 that the business experienced further growth with the opening of an Opticians practice in East Kilbride and then shortly afterwards in Glasgow – trading as Devine and Niven.
