Double Vision: Troon Move In Sight For Award Winning Opticians

Urquhart Opticians is set to double its size in Troon with a move to new premises.

After more than three decades in the town's Church Street, the independent group is moving to 27 Portland Street which will more than double the space available for both eye examinations and dispensing. The larger premises will enable Urquharts to introduce the latest optometry technology and stock a significantly wider range of frames, including Tiffany, Tom Ford and Oakley.

Work is already underway to transform the new premises, with the practice move scheduled for late February. It is part of a wider six-figure investment programme across Urquhart Opticians four practices. Last month remodelling at Urquharts' Glasgow practice was completed, with the Prestwick practice due to be completed this month. They follow a major transformation of Urquhart's Kilmarnock Headquarters which co-incided with the company's 2016 centenary. Last year also saw the independently owned and managed group win a prestigious Ayrshire Business Award.

This week Urquhart's Troon based optometrist Fiona Black joined the company's Business Partner Peter Telfer on the site of the new Portland Street premises for a look at how the remodelling work is progressing.

Fiona said: "The Troon team are all excited about the move and the new premises are already looking great. As well as doubling in size, the new layout is being designed with the comfort of our customers very much in mind, and we will also now be able to stock and display a far greater range of frames."

Urquhart Opticians has also confirmed sponsorship and advertising at Troon's Marr Rugby Club and at Troon FC for next season.

Peter Telfer added: "We are delighted to confirm Urquhart Opticians continued commitment to Troon with this move to new, larger premises in the heart of the town centre.  Urquharts has been serving the people of Ayrshire for over 100 years, and we've had a presence in Troon now for at least three decades. Moving to the Portland Street site gives us the capacity to further invest in the latest technology, and to provide the people of Troon with a far wider choice of frames including many of the new continental collections which have been successfully introduced in our larger practices. Our new Troon premises is already taking shape and we are very much look forward to welcoming existing and new patients to Portland Street soon."
