Why did you get in to Optics?
I have always found it very interesting and since visiting the University and starting my job with Urquhart’s I decided it is the career for me.
Where did you study? / What qualifications do you have?
I am currently in S6 at Grange Academy and have my advanced higher exams coming up in May. I have been successful in obtaining an unconditional offer for Optometry at Glasgow Caledonian University and will begin studying in September of this year.
How long have you been with Urquhart Opticians and what do you enjoy most about your job?
I started working at Urquhart Opticians in Kilmarnock 6 months ago as an optical receptionist and I am enjoying it very much. I like meeting and interacting with different people and feel it has given me a great opportunity to learn more about the optics industry which will be very useful in the future.
What is your favourite brand of eyewear and why?
I really like Tiffany & Co. as they are subtle and elegant with a little bit of sparkle.
Outside of Work
What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
Playing the violin.
Where is your favourite holiday destination?
My favourite holiday was a family skiing trip to Canada which was an amazing experience that I would love to do again at some point in my life.
What is your favourite movie?
Being a big Harry Potter fan I would have to say Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire is my favourite.
What is your favourite book?
Again, I enjoy the Harry Potter series but one of my other favourites is The Fault In Our Stars by John Green.
One interesting fact about yourself?
I live on a dairy farm.
