Why did you get in to Optics?
I enjoyed customer service and wanted a career that combined helping people with their healthcare needs.
Where did you study? / What qualifications do you have?
I left school at 15 to work in a travel agent after standard grade exams. I’m currently awaiting the results of my level 5 in Optical Care.
How long have you been with Urquharts and what do you enjoy most about your job?
Almost 2 years – I love getting to know the patients and helping them choose their glasses.
What is your favourite brand of eyewear and why?
Face a Face Paris - It is unique and quirky yet appeals to a wide age range. The frames are all handmade and excellent quality.
What is your most memorable patient experience?
I had a patient who came in to buy new glasses as she had a bad fall the previous day and had broken her current ones, I reminded her to check if she had any insurance cover for this and turned out she did. She was very grateful and got the full cost of her glasses covered; she brought in chocolates and a card to thank me which was lovely.
What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
I enjoy going to the gym, spending time with my dog Harleigh and socialising with friends.
Where is your favourite holiday destination?
I have never been but would love to visit Santorini.
What is your favourite movie?
Could not possibly pick one would be a toss up between The Bodyguard and Marley and Me.
What is your favourite book?
I’m not a big reader!
