Urquharts are delighted to become an accredited Living Wage Employer. Peter Telfer and Alistair Duff have owned the business since 2014 and this has always been an aspiration of theirs. One of their core business values is ‘Care & Community’, not only does this apply to their patients and community, but also to their team. Peter said, ‘We value our people and best practice, so we’re proud to move forward as a Living Wage Employer. It means a lot to us that our patients know that when they use Urquharts, they are using a business that puts their team at the heart of everything they do.’
Urquhart Opticians are now also a Young Person’s Guarantee Employer, continuing to support the young people in the community and bring them into the world of optics. Last year Urquharts took on their first Pre-Reg Optometrist Holly Leitch, and plan to provide this opportunity to Optometry students every year. Holly has been working with the business since she was 17 on a part time basis throughout her studies, and will soon have completed her Pre-Reg year and be working as a fully qualified Optometrist. This progression is an example of the commitment Urquhart Opticians is making to young people.
