Why did you get in to Optics?

I had worked in retail for many years and was looking for a change of career.  I knew I wanted to work in a healthcare environment and still work with the public, so optics was a perfect fit.

Where did you study? / What qualifications do you have?

I have a medical admin diploma and I am currently studying towards my Level 5 in Optical Care.

How long have you been with Urquhart Opticians and what do you enjoy most about your job?

I have been with Urquhart's for 9 months.  I would have to say the best thing is that with working in an independent business, we are able to provide a more personal service so that gives you the chance to really get to know the patients.  Also, I can't forget my fantastic team in the practice!

What is your favourite brand of eyewear and why?

It would have to be one of our newest designers, Tom Ford.  I'm not into sparkle so I love how simple and classic the brand is, while still being different

Outside of Work

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

You can't beat cocktails with the girls! But I have recently starting hill walking as we are doing a team hike of Ben Nevis at the end of this month - I'm determined to get to the top! Also, I love spending time with my new little nephew Murray.

Where is your favourite holiday destination?

Rome is my favourite place that I've been to.  I love the art and the history of the city, St Peter's Basilica is incredible to see in real life.

What is your favourite movie?

Silence of the lambs - I love Anthony Hopkins!

What is your favourite book?

As a big reader this is a hard question, one of my favourites would have to be the Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde.

One interesting fact about yourself?

I'm obsessed with reality tv  - how sad!
