Why did you get in to Optics?
I have always enjoyed helping people and being an Optometrist enables me to do that every day.
Where did you study? / What qualifications do you have?
I qualified with Honours in Optometry from Glasgow Caledonian University in 2006. I also have further training in post operative cataract care. This enables me to help patients throughout the journey of having their cataract removed from initial referral to the final check up.
How long have you been with Urquhart Opticians and what do you enjoy most about your job?
I have worked with Urquhart’s for just over 3 months. I really enjoy providing first class eyecare and spending time with my patients. I also love when I can help people feel great about themselves in their new eyewear.
What is your favourite brand of eyewear and why?
I love our Tiffany range of glasses and sunglasses. It’s such an iconic brand and the frames are just as great as the jewellery!
What is your most memorable patient experience?
I’ve had so many memorable experiences with my patients over the years it’s hard to pick out just one. I’ve been close to tears with some of my patients when they have faced difficulties and equally laughed together with others. When you see the same people every time you get to know people on a personal level.
Outside of Work
What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I love being outdoors with my two year old son and my two dogs. Equally I enjoy a gin and tonic or two!
Where is your favourite holiday destination?
I love to holiday in Scotland one of my favourite places is the Isle of Skye.
What is your favourite movie?
Anything with Denzel Washington.
What is your favourite book?
Confessions of a Shopaholic.
