Meet the Team - Lynn Docherty

Why did you get in to Optics?

I've always wanted to work in an Opticians. Prior to this, I worked in Retail Management I wanted to use these skills and combine it with something that I have always had a passion for.

Where did you study?

I studied at Paisley University and achieved a 2:1 Honours in Business Management.

How long have you been with Urquhart Opticians and what do you enjoy the most?

I've been with Urquhart Opticians for over 18 months now. I really enjoy looking after our valued customers and getting to know them by name. I like to see them from booking the appointment right through to them collecting their new glasses. It is really pleasing to have helped someone and to have made a difference to them.

What is your favourite brand of eyewear and why?

It has got to be Jimmy Choo and Tiffany - I mean, every woman needs a bit of "bling" in their life!

What is your most memorable patient experience?

We a customer quite recently who has quite a high prescription and as result of the thickness of her lenses, thought that she could never get a designer pair of glasses. Having taken her through the dispensing process and explained her different options, we chose a Jimmy Choo frame as it was quite small and meant any edge thickness on the lenses would be reduced. She was absolutely delighted with the job when she picked them up and this for me makes it all worth it.

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

I used to regularly go sailing when my Dad had his Yacht at Troon Marina. However, he and the boat have recently moved to Spain and so that is now always a good excuse to go on holiday!

What is your favourite movie?

"It's a Wonderful Life" - I like it because it shows strong values and a great sense of community spirit.

What is your favourite book?

I actually like horror books and anything that is a bit gory.

One interesting fact about yourself?

I always lose at snap to my grand daughters who are only 6.5 and 5!
