Meet the Team - Sarah Walker

Why did you get into Optics?

When I was 19 I worked in a coffee shop across from an opticians. The optician’s manager asked me to come for a chat about an Optical Assistant role and the rest is history.

How long have you been with Urquhart Opticians and what do you enjoy most about your job?

I have been with Urquhart Opticians since August 2021. I love creating a positive patient experience, from the initial booking of appointment to the fitting of the spectacles.

What is your favourite brand of eyewear and why?

I love quirky styles, so, Face A Face, Etnia Barcelona and Guess have some really funky designs coming through their range at the moment.

What is your most memorable patient experience?

There are so many memorable experiences that I couldn’t name just the one but there is nothing more rewarding than watching a small child putting on their first spectacles. Pulls at the heart strings every time.

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

I have a very active toddler so when I am not role-playing as Batman I enjoy working in the garden growing fruit and veg. I also really enjoy arts and crafts, currently crafting clay jewellery.

Where is your favourite holiday destination?

Ubud in Bali. Anyone who has been knows.

What is your favourite movie or book?

My favourite book is Feel the Fear and do it Anyway. It’s a book about embracing fear to create change in life. It’s helped me take many leaps of faith.
